I listen mostly to classical music - the Sony 'phones are rich in clear boomless base and crystalline treble. The shures are at time a little harsh and metaliic. The Sony 'phones may not last physically but as of now I think they are an unbelievable bargain! Well done Sony. Peter B One of the best sounding headphone pairs I've ever owned, By This review is from: Sony MDREX86LP/BLK Headphones (Black) (Electronics) These buds are amazing. The sound is very well balanced. The bass is strong but not overpowering. Although they are buds, the sound often feels very expansive. I can literally feel the vibration of a slow guitar strum on my outer ear. I think that this is achieved by the design which has the driver sitting in the 'cup' of the ear above the lobe.As far as comfort goes, they're fantastic. They are incredibly light, and the silicone inserts are so soft that I don't notice them. My only complaint is that the wires are very thin, and these are therefore not for workouts or any situation where you think you'll end up snagging the wires a lot. I bought a 2 year warranty with mine. Great headphones, overall, This review is from: Sony MDREX86LP/BLK Headphones (Black) (Electronics) I have had a pair of these for about 3 years now. I use them every day. They really do meet any challenge I put them to. Most of the time they are hooked to my laptop so they get time on music, movies, and games. The bass is strong, though the frequency response Sony claims is a little exaggerated; they drop off below 34Hz and are inaudible below 28Hz. That said, that is pretty darn good for earbuds in this price range. The highs are clean and clear. The headphones never seem muddy. The bass can get boomy, but a little EQ adjustment will alleviate that. The voice reproduction is good, but could be a little more precise and crisper. I find the design to be unique and it took a little getting used to, but I think they are very comfortable and long wearing. The fit and finish is good and as old as mine are, they have never had an issue or short and they look nearly brand new. That is partly due to the included case which I think is just perfect; it really protects the... Read more |
