4.0 out of 5 stars Decent for cycling, May 10, 2010
This review is from: Sony MDREX36V/RED EX Earbud Headphone (Red) (Electronics)
I got these to have something to wear while I ride my bike. They stay in place better than some Coby earbuds I'd tried before, and the sound quality was much better. I was also concerned with keeping wind noise down, and they did a decent job at that; you can still hear wind, but it's quieter than when you're not using headphones. The Cobys, on the other hand, seem to somehow amplify wind noise, making music nearly impossible to hear. That means turning up the volume, making it harder to hear traffic, and causing more hearing damage.

These are also light enough that you forget you're wearing them after you get them in place. I know I could have spent 5x more on a nicer pair, but that'd just hurt more if I lost them.

Overall, not bad for the price, the volume control is very handy, and the rubber cord wrap that comes with them meant I didn't have an extra 2' of cord getting in my way.

3.0 out of 5 stars First impression - a solid pair of earbuds, May 7, 2009
I just picked these up for $26 at a local retailer. After listening comfortably for over an hour to a range of music I'm quite impressed. These buds are much more comfortable than the Apple in-ear buds which these have replaced. In addition to decent reproduction without distortion, they do a great job of sealing out external noise. Although these are not a professional grade pair of buds, they are quite impressive for the price.

If you are looking for an upgrade to your iPod/iPhone buds without breaking the bank, I would recommend considering these.. they are less expensive than the Apple In-Ear unit, sound better, and don't fall out of your ears.

2.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely HORRIBLE build quality., December 21, 2010
This review is from: Sony MDREX36V/RED EX Earbud Headphone (Red) (Electronics)
I'll be brief here. Let me start by saying that the sound quality of these headphones is not bad for the price. They're quite comfortable, and I would say that they block a decent amount of noise. I haven't used high quality noise cancelling headphones, but I'm pretty satisfied with these ones.

Now here's the bad part. I had to buy 2 pairs of these. The first I bought, the left side stopped working after about 3 or 4 months of having them. Then I bought a second pair, because I couldn't afford something better, I was pretty happy with my previous ones, and I thought that was something that happened to those units only. So I bought a second pair. And guess what? After about 4 months of using them, it's now the right side the one which broke. I was listening to music, and then I saw a friend, and I obviously took my headphones off to talk to him. I put my headphones in my pocket, and then when I took them out to continue listening, the right one wasn't working. Bam. Just... Read more
