The first pair had a blown speaker on the left can right out of the box so it would sound like a fart each time the bass hit. I've been looking for a cordless headset for a long time without spending hundreds of dollars on a pair and I really wanted these to work out so I immediately shot back down to my local Ross with my daughters iPod and exchanged the set for a new pair. Walked out into the parking lot and tried them and the 2nd pair was fine. After getting home and hooking it up to my PC again I noticed this second set has a slight hiss that wasn't apparent in the first pair. There was no way I was going back to Ross again as that place is a total zoo. Besides, it's not a deal breaker anyway as you can only truly hear the hiss when you crank it up really loud with nothing playing. The condenser Mic on the set is a little weak so you have to crank it up a little for chat programs like Ventrillo or Skype. Even with the... I had been using some knockoff brand purchased for $15 at Biglots, which tended to fall apart but with a little doctoring would work. Coming out of the box, they look nice and feel nice to the hand compared to my old ones, but they would NOT keep a connection to the wireless transmitter. Their method of finding your wireless frequency involves pushing two buttons on the headset-- the instructions were lackluster in explaining if there was a particular order for the two buttons-- and normally they would hold the connection with my device playing music or audiobooks for a few minutes, but would randomly switch to another channel, leaving me pressing the buttons in order to find the channel I had been on. As I don't use the wireless headset often, I just put up with... I've been buying wireless headphones on and off for 10+ years. I have to say these Sharper Image ones could be the worst ones I have ever used. Deafening hum, terrible audio quality. Receiver must be 12-18 INCHES away from headphones to eliminate hum and even then the audio frequency range is terrible. I'm serious when I say to just stomp these headphones with your foot when you get them....at least you'll have a small bit of enjoyment from them. |
