5.0 out of 5 stars As good as the shure 595!, July 12, 2011
This review is from: Sony MDREX86LP/BLK Headphones (Black) (Electronics)
I have listened for long periods of time to both the shure 595 (which I love) and the Sony headphones (which I bought expecting at best a cheap emergency backup) but I am concvinced that the Sony headphones are as good if not better than the shures. I listen mostly to classical music - the Sony 'phones are rich in clear boomless base and crystalline treble. The shures are at time a little harsh and metaliic. The Sony 'phones may not last physically but as of now I think they are an unbelievable bargain! Well done Sony.

For anyone who wants to enjoy the sound and quality of their music, choose these ear buds. Nothing else I have used in the past compares to the richness of sound and quality of the bass line. Very happy with my purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars Everyone should own these headphones, October 13, 2011

This review is from: Sony MDR-XB41EX Extra Bass Headphones (Electronics)
Why? Because these are the best earbud-type headphones I've used to date.

The bass is strong, and the high and mid-ranges sound terrific. I had previously owned the Sony MDR-XB40EX (also an Extra Bass edition), which were very good.

These are even better, and worth the upgrade.

What really sets these apart are the included noise isolation earbuds, which do a superb job of sealing out exterior sound. I even attached the extra large sized earbuds and they did an even more impressive job keeping sound out.

I've owned Sony earbud headphones that are more expensive than these, but do not provide the bass that these do. Plus, the cords are flat - making tangles a thing of the past.

No need to think twice on these. I'd buy them again in an instant.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Headphones for the price, September 27, 2011
    Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Sony MDR-XB41EX Extra Bass Headphones (Electronics)
These Headphones, like the title says, are very good. They have very good noise isolation, many ear tip sizes, and have very good and punchy bass. The mids and highs are also very clear, vocals are easily heard. I listen to many types of music, and they are by far best for hip hop, rap, and music with heavy bass. There is no chord noise and they do not tangle at all. Also, they have the "stay in ear" technology, which actually works very well, so this naturally makes them good for sports and working out. I also own Bose in ear headphones (MIE2), Sennheiser CX-300 II, and V-Moda Remix. These are the best of the headphones in every way except comfort, (the Bose are slightly more comfortable). I have also used the Beats by Dre Tours and these have even better bass than those. These are by far the best headphones i have used.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent sound..., February 15, 2012

These buds are excellent, look like they're going to feel ackward when you put them in (like the Dre Beats Tours) but are actually very comfortable and balanced.

Sound quality is great, bass is tight and packs a punch, but not boomy which some may prefer. Highs and mids are also well represented.

They also provide some noise isolation at low volume, which is fine for what I use them for (office listening & working out).

Lots of silicone and hybrid airbud sizes provided, haven't tried the hybrids yet, noise isolation I'm getting with the normal ones is fine for me. Zippered case is quite nice as well.

Got the Sony MDREX310LP In-Ear Headphones ($50) at the same time, and really can't choose between them for now. The EX310's have the j-cord (right side behind the neck) which I personally prefer for... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the Best Earbuds on the Market, August 1, 2010
    Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Sony MDRPQ4/BLK PIIQ Headphones (Electronics)
I had doubts buying these headphones since one there was hardly any information about them and two the clip to earlobe design give me the impression i might see the hospital again. But i was surprised about these headphones from comfort to sound to the overall package. I been using Sony headphones for a quite and i been overall satisfied but i wanted more. I used to had Bose headphones but i was disappointed that they had no noise canceling feature especially for a $100 price point. After finally buying these i change my thought for all headphones and there quality.

    Sound
The sound of these headphones are very good,i compare these headphones with past Sony, Bose, Philips and Vmods. I must say the sound is rich and beautiful and it has a nice amount of bass that doesn't go out of control like the V mods. As for comparing to Bose its pretty on par with it which left me shocked a bit for how much these cost. Overall your looking at some good sound, don't expect it to... Read more

    5.0 out of 5 stars Reviewfi.com Piiq Clipon review, February 8, 2011
This review is from: Sony MDRPQ4/BLK PIIQ Headphones (Electronics)
For basic everyday needs, I've got the Piiq Clip-on Earbuds. I'm almost certain Sony raised the bar with these headphones so much, they decided to make up a new brand for them. Problems with their older headphones such as the MDR's have been fixed; the instant breaking 3 days outside of warranty, the questionable sound quality, all these headphones had to offer was price (9.99.. really?).

I bought the Piiq's as an impulse buy, I honestly wasn't completely sure how to put them on my ears at first (they look like your ears are ultra gauged). The good news is with their comfortable clip design, they'll stay on you ears for pretty much anything (parkour anyone?) and they easily clip on your shirt or bag.

As for sound output, they get the job done. With a frequency Response of 6 - 23,000 Hz, you should be able to hear everything you need to. The 9mm drivers are comparable to more expensive brands such as Bose, and pump out a nice clean sound with plenty of bass... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Almost perfect, November 11, 2010
    Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Sony MDRPQ4/BLK PIIQ Headphones (Electronics)
Well to begin, these headphones are amazing in sound cancelling and sound quality. I bought the black and white version and couldn't be happier, though my one qualm was the ear clips, it took me many combinations of the rubber ear buds to get a good seal, but just having them unattached solves the problem, these create a solid bass that i can feel in my skull without over doing it, treble is a bit high and sharp, but easily fixed in an equalizer, over all these are the best headphones for the money, especially since i picked them up for around 15 bucks
